EAT | DRINK | B.MARY

Legend has it that the Bloody Mary was named after a waitress called Mary who worked at a Chicago bar called the Bucket of Blood - we salute you Mary!

The brunch of champions, aka the Bloody Mary, is said to relieve you of your hangover in a three-pronged attack

  • Lots of vegetables to settle your stomach
  • The right amount of salt to replenish electrolytes
  • Alcohol (to numb body aches)

Of course it could be that the alcohol alone is what really provides the relief but who are we to judge a perfectly wonderful cocktail (placebo effect anyone?).

I wonder if there is another drink which ignites as much debate on what makes up the perfect ingredients, harissa? pickle juice? chilli - how much is too much? lemon or lime?

McClures Bloody Mary mix might just offer the solution - pre-made by the pickle kings to a tried, true and loved recipe, it makes for the perfect gift - $23 in store or online

We are having a tasting of McClures Bloody Mary Mix (virgin this time) in the store this weekend, so pop in and give it go (with or without the hangover).
